EthrA

EthrA energy

EthrA energy is dense blue fog that comes off the Ancients' Monoliths. Humans store it in EthrA crystals. Too much exposure causes Permanent Crystallization Syndrome, which has no cure and does not stop if you cut the affected limb. Veil's kind can gather and process the energy directly. Japanese Steam calls the energy イスラ while keeping the game title EthrA.

Energy and crystals

In first playtest

In its natural state EthrA behaves like a gas and appears as dense blue fog. That is the look in the forest still on this route. The energy exists throughout the world, not only in a single dungeon. Enormous Monoliths continuously generate it and surround themselves with heavy concentrations of the fog. Empty crystals can be charged near them. Under the right conditions the energy can also crystallize on its own into fragments with different forms, colors, and properties. Those charged crystals have become an important source of energy in the setting.

Humans cannot manipulate EthrA directly. The energy must be condensed and stored inside crystals before it can be used. Most of that harvest happens at the Monoliths. Researchers have tried for centuries to understand how the structures produce the energy. The symbols on them match ruins elsewhere, which ties them to the Ancients, but the true purpose and the mechanism that keeps them running remain unknown. Veil's kind can gather and process the energy directly, which is the species fact that belongs on Bob and Veil as well as here.

The first Steam playtest is a combat-and-exploration prototype. It does not promise a crystal crafting tree or a meter you can screenshot. What you can expect to see is the atmosphere the still already shows: blue fog in wild ground, ruins that share symbols with the Monoliths, and a caster whose species is called out as able to process the energy. Treat crystals as a setting resource the store already named, not as a wiki-invented currency with buy prices. Japanese store copy keeps the title EthrA and localizes this energy as イスラ. If you are reading Japanese Steam, イスラ is the official local word for the same blue-fog energy. English sentences here say EthrA energy when they need to separate the resource from the product title. Empty crystals charged near Monoliths are the human bottle for the same fog Veil's kind can process directly. Researchers have tried for centuries to understand how the Monoliths produce the fog. Symbols on the structures match ruins elsewhere, which ties them to the Ancients, while the mechanism stays unknown. That unknown is why this energy file and the Monoliths file should be read as a pair before you walk a fog field in the prototype. For access and scope, return to EthrA Playtest Sign-Up.

PCS

EthrA is not harmless. Exposure to extremely high concentrations can cause living tissue to slowly crystallize. The condition is rare and primarily affects explorers who go too close to areas with unusually high concentrations. Official text names it Permanent Crystallization Syndrome, or PCS. Once the process begins, even amputating the affected limb cannot stop it from spreading. No cure has been found yet. Humans need the crystal bottle because they cannot work the fog by hand. Veil's kind does not need that bottle, which is why protecting the caster is not the same job as protecting a second melee body. Charged crystals remain a setting resource with different forms, colors, and properties, not a shop with published prices.

That is the whole published medical file. There is no stage table, no crystal-type list tied to symptoms, and no statement that Veil is immune. Do not read the species affinity as a free pass. If you are walking a Monolith field in the playtest, the practical takeaway is the same as the lore takeaway: the blue fog is the world's battery and its hazard. Pair these notes with Monoliths for the Ancients who left the engines running. PCS is rare and aimed at explorers who push into unusually high concentrations, which is why ruin-walking and fog-walking share the same caution.

Japanese Steam's イスラ is the same energy as the English blue fog. It is not a second resource. Crystals are the human bottle for that resource. Veil's kind skips the bottle. PCS is the cost of standing too close to the bottle's source. Those four sentences are the playable reading of the lore block. The first Steam playtest is combat and exploration. You may walk fog. You may not get a PCS quest. You may not get a crystal UI. The forest still is still the right picture: Bob in blue air. If a later build adds a crystal inventory, it can be documented then. For now, Monoliths and this file are the two lore doors, and EthrA Playtest Sign-Up is the door into a build. Veil's species fact belongs in a fight as much as in a lore file: the caster you protect is the one whose kind touches the fog without a crystal middleman. Explorers who push into unusually high concentrations are the group the store names, which is why ruin-walking and fog-walking share the same caution. Under the right conditions the energy also crystallizes on its own into fragments with different forms, colors, and properties, and those charged crystals have become an important source of energy throughout the world.
